What works for you

Whether you need someone else to write your book, or to help you improve what you write through book editing, I can help. There are a number of ways we can work together depending on the level of involvement you want me to have. So, these are the options:

  • Hands-on collaboration

We both write content, but I take on the final book editing role to bring the project together. If you enjoy the creative process, this is probably the most satisfying option, though it is the most time-consuming.

“Not only a talented writer with a well-researched approach – but you write in an ‘easy to read’ style that engages. Very flexible and great to work with. Thank you.”

  • Hands-off collaboration

Here I get information from you about your ideas, then do the writing and the final book editing. This way you can cut your time commitment down to just 20-30 hours or so, perhaps even less. Most of the books I’ve ghostwritten are completed this way.

Collaboration – two or more people working together towards shared goals.

  • Book editing

This is when I give you advice about and help with your story’s shape and structure. Good books are the result of lots and lots of revision, and I can ensure your book is as polished as possible. For example, I edited the first published book of a leading European business coach and even took on its subsequent marketing. This involved writing her website, PR and email marketing … and more. She went on to become an ‘Amazon Bestseller’ and a multi-award winning author.

  • ‘Writing rescue’

If you’ve already started your book but lost momentum, I can help you bring it back on track by reshaping the content, identifying potential gaps in content and making stylistic changes. If you have another ghostwriter’s partially written draft, I can develop it so it’s publication-ready.

I was very happy to find a professional able to create compelling content. I was also thrilled that the writer had a good understanding of my genre (personal growth). Great job and done quickly!”

  • Idea validation

Not sure if your idea for a book will work? Then I’m able to give you a reality check and suggest ways to develop it in ways that better connect the content with your target audience.

“Such a great experience. We went from a disorganised hairball of ideas to cohesive, focused copy together, entirely thanks to your expertise.”   Tech entrepreneur, Sweden

  • Synopsis creation

If you want to go down the traditional publishing route, then I can write a synopsis that pitches your book to potential publishers. Having five published books in my own name with multiple publishers, I know how to do this successfully.

  • Book coaching

If you have ambitions to be a writer, then I can help you get there as your book coach. So, I can help you find your idea in the first place and to refine it, then work with you on developing your outline and structure and finally, be there to keep you on track when you actually start writing. I can be as involved or as hands-off as you wish. Let me know if this is something you’re interested in.

Bigger isn’t always best

Book editing for short books

Your book should be as long, or as short, as necessary to achieve what you want it to. So, if at this stage your idea doesn’t require a full-blown business book, you might want to think about something shorter. After all, there’s no point just writing words for the sake of it so, why take three pages to say something that could be said in two? For instance, ‘Who Moved My Cheese’ was ground-breaking book of just 32 pages, but it had a profound impact on its readership.

These are what I call a‘ThoughtManifesto’. Typically 6,000 to 10,000 words in length, a ThoughtManifesto’s a condensed book – long enough to develop an idea without the investment of time and effort required by a book. It could be the perfect vehicle for building awareness and understanding of your new idea.

If you’ve already begun collecting ideas for your book, then you’ve already made a commitment to getting your book written, just like others on my client list.

If you would like to find out what I can do to take it over the line we should talk more. Perhaps we could work on a small project – a chapter or just a few pages of your book.

Call me on 01432 76148 or email. You can also schedule an initial discussion here.

In my blog, I write more about book collaborations, editing and ghostwriting in general.
